The Story Beyond the Still

This is very cool. Canon has been running a user-generated film contest called The Story Beyond the Still. The concept is that each chapter of the film is created by a different photographer, who creates their own storyline based on the previous chapters. ie. Pick up where the last chapter left off. Every entry must be filmed in HD (720p or higher) with a Canon 5D or 7D, and be no more than 2-4 minutes in length.

There are obvious challenges to the film makers, since each chapter will be filmed in a new location and with different actors. So far, they've done an amazing job creating an engaging storyline and maintaining a consist overall theme.

Without further adieu, here are the first five chapters.

Chapter 1: The Cabbie

Chapter 2: Job Security

Chapter 3: The Beach

Chapter 4: Allison

Chapter 5: Miracle

A choir as big as the Internet

185 voices from 12 countries join a choir that spans the globe: "Lux Aurumque," composed and conducted by Eric Whitacre, merges hundreds of tracks individually recorded and posted to YouTube. It's an astonishing illustration of how technology can connect us. Very cool!

More square feet of awesomeness

This is quite possibly the best Molson Canadian commercial of all time.

When you think about Canadians you might ask yourself, "Why are we the way we are?"
Well the answer is laying right under our feet, literally.
Fact is, it's this land that shapes us.
There's a reason why we run off the dock instead of tippy toe in.
It's because that water is frozen six months a year.
And that frozen water brought on a sport that we can call our own.
This land is unlike any other.
We have more square feet of awesomeness per person than any other nation on earth.
It's why we flock towards lakes, mountains, forests, rivers, and streams.
We know we have the best backyard in the world,
and we get out there every chance we get.
Because its not just the great outdoors we're chasing, its freedom.
And this place gives it to us at every turn.
Here, we're free to chill out, free to unwind, and free to wind up.
There's a beer that comes from the same land we let loose on.
And its brewed to be as clean, crisp, and fresh as the country it comes from.
So here's to everything this land gives us.
Molson Canadian, made from Canada.

Real footage or green screen?

It's amazing how much the green screen is used in films now, even for the most basic of shots. Very cool video!
